Alternative Sitting

Design and choice

Most chairs encourage postural strain because their design ignores the way the human body really works. They are designed to be “comfortable” to people who are used to sitting badly.

Sitting to work requires an active, dynamic and balanced posture but a typical work chair creates a passive, collapsed and fixed position. Sitting to relax requires support and balance so that we can release the body, but a typical relaxation chair does not support correctly and makes balance impossible.

A few good chairs

There is a fairly small number of chairs designed with awareness and in accordance with modern ergonomic research. They make our work possible.
